Google Lively has just been launched by Google.com which is dubbed a Social Virtual World similar to the teen Second Life, but labeled as a “Chat Experience” by the search engine giant Google. So you are now probably wondering What is Google Lively, and How does Google Lively Work?
You can create a room or “space” and invite your friends over to chat, choose an avatar and customize it, stream movies, video and personal photos then even add your room to your site and invite your firends over to chat and help decorate your room.
Google Lively will soon enable people to import friends from other social networks and platforms, add various Google products in to your room such as YouTube Video or a Search Panel. You can also take your Avatar, (almost like a virtual you) and put it in other peoples rooms on the web. Also knowing Google, considering they are primarily an Advertising Company more then the common Search Engine people associate them with they will introduce Adsense in to the Google Lively product possibly enabling people to earn revenue from their rooms and allow advertisers to market to specific demographics.
The Google Lively needs to be downloaded to your PC, it requires Windows Vista/XP with Internet Explorer or Firefox. Already Apple Mac and Linux users are showing a bit of protest over at the Google Groups as so far Apple Mac and Linux are not compatible with Google Lively however i don’t think it will be too long before support is added because i know a lot of Google Employee’s are Linux and Mac users. Surprisingly the downloadable .exe is only 468kb in size.
