The LG Glimmer is the latest offer from LG, the brand known for creating some of the coolest smart phones in the past. This is being brought in the market with collaboration with Alltel. It is being dubbed as one of the finest phones from LG. With the stunning touch screen display and the slider keypad, it’s really a cell phone worth having.
LG Glimmer has combined best features from two of its predecessors called LG shine and LG Prada. The LG shine had a slider keypad, and LG Prada had a touch screen display. So it’s from both the worlds. It is 4inches by 2.05 inches by 0.59 inch in dimension with a gun metal chassis and brushed stainless steel finish.
The touch screen is 2.8 inches diagonally which supports 262,000 colors. It shows the date, time, battery strength etc. The font size and backlighting time can well be adjusted to suit the needs. The entire navigation can be done through touch screen without any hassle. It gives a vibrating sensation when something is selected which can again be controlled.
It features high end multimedia capabilities. It has an in built GPS navigation system to keep you on track. It has the latest EV-DO support to access the broadband facilities from Alltel. You can also watch TV shows with the help of this at an additional cost ofcourse. It also has a standard music player which supports a few formats of files. You can never forget memory, 128 MB is embedded, in which it can also be expanded with a microSD card up to 4GB for any additional storage of music and videos.
It has a 2 MegaPixel camera which can support variety of resolutions, night mode shoot, self timer etc. The quality of the photographs are really good with sharp images. An inbuilt video recorder can be used to shoot clips also. It also equipped with a good battery which can give 3.5 hours of talk time, and seven days standby time.
On the other side it gives a lackluster web browsing experience, and the EV-DO can also be improved. Some users also expect a QWERTY keyboard which it lacks. It does not offer the full HTML browsing features like the great almighty iPhone. But it should have been made to support some file formats such as MP3, WMA, AAC and AAC+ which are generally and commonly used in other smart phones. But all said and done, the $249 price tag and killing looks gives it an edge over some others.
